I am waiting on the tooth extraction. I renewed all the required paper work, had my x-ray and general consultation with the nurse and Dr. Warden, waitijg on Dr. Rhim to approve the surgery. I still have my bad tooth ache. Thank you! Everything went great except for my not taking the pre-med as required. As luck would have it the staff found a place for me at Smyrna on the 26th allowing my tooth to be extracted. Thanks to the staff and Dr. Warden, all is well. Thank you

Is it okay to sleep with my dentures in?

Although you can sleep with your dentures, it’s best to remove them at night. Taking them out gives your gums and jawbone a chance to rest from the constant pressure of wearing them. We recommend cleaning your dentures before bed and placing them in a cup of water or denture solution to keep them clean and moist while you sleep.

Do dentures cause discomfort?

It’s common to feel some mild soreness or irritation when you first start wearing dentures, but this usually improves as your mouth adjusts. If the discomfort persists or your dentures don’t feel quite right, don’t hesitate to contact our office. We’ll help determine if a simple adjustment is needed to improve your comfort.

Are there certain foods I should avoid with dentures?

You’ll need some time to adjust to eating with dentures, especially when it comes to tough, crunchy, or sticky foods. While most foods can be enjoyed once you’re used to your dentures, chewing gum is best avoided — it can stick to the denture surface, cause staining, or loosen the seal, leading to shifting or discomfort.

Rediscover your confidence to chew, speak to different people, and smile after losing teeth when you receive a full or partial tooth restoration. Drs. Mark Hardison and Jeff Warden are happy to offer full-mouth and partial dentures. To find out more information about how dentures may revitalize your smile, schedule an appointment at Middle Tennessee Oral and Implant Surgery in Murfreesboro or Smyrna, TN.
